Melissa's Gift is the inspiring true story of Melissa, a Costa Rican girl, who finds her father when she is 11 years old. Knowing she is incurably ill with cystic fibrosis, he rushes to her side in a rural Costa Rican town. The day after they meet, Melissa retreats from him and for the next five years he engages in desperate attempts to form a relationship and bring her to the states for treatment. From the outset he carried the belief that he had been found in order to save Melissa's life. As it turns out, his is the life which is saved.
Melissa's Gift is the compelling first-person story of a man and his daughter, everyday people in extraordinary circumstances. The father's struggle for the heart of his daughter, with her life in the balance, initiates him into the deepest dimensions of love and self-discovery.
